2010 Patinack Farm Classic Main Aim for All Silent at Melbourne Cup Carnival

August 25th, 2010

Randwick trainer Graham Begg’s super sprinter All Silent is back in Australia and preparing for an assault on the 2010 Melbourne Cup Carnival with the $750,000 Group 1 Patinack Farm Classic (1200m) the main aim.

Seven-year-old Belong To Me gelding All Silent enjoyed victory in the Patinack Farm Classic last year and will return to the Flemington track on Emirates Stakes Day seeking back-to-back success in the weight-for-age feature.

Following his success in Australia, Begg sent All Silent off on an international campaign where the veteran galloper ran eighth in the Hong Kong Sprint (1200m) and most recently fifth in a Group 3 race at Dubai back in March.

Returning Down Under All Silent had a mediocre return when finishing 11th in the Group 1 Newmarket Handicap (1200m) during autumn.

Begg has scheduled the Group 1 Manikato Stakes (1200m) at Moonee Valley under the lights on Friday September 24 as All Silent’s first-up run instead of the Group 2 Gilgai Stakes in October, which All Silent won on way to the Patinack last year.

Melbourne Cup-winning jockey Blake Shinn has been booked as All Silent’s rider for the spring season.

Shinn took the mount on All Silent on Monday in an 800m barrier trial at Warwick Farm.

More Melbourne Cup Carnival success is also on the cards for Begg with his Encosta De Lago mare Palacio De Cristal.

Palacio De Cristal is heading towards Group 1 Myer Classic (1600m) on Victoria Derby Day on October 30 and the Group 1 Emirates Stakes (1600m), which stablemate All Silent won in 2008.
