The final field for the 2011 The BMW has just been released and there are 11 confirmed runners for the $2.25 million race that will run at Rosehill Garden’s Golden Slipper Day this Saturday April 2, 2011.
Featuring in the 2011 The BMW final field is Anthony Cummings’ Zavite, who was the surprise winner of the Group 1 Ranvet Stakes last start ahead of Descarado, Hawk Island and Maluckyday on March 19, 2011.
The eight-year-old racing veteran has won 11 of his 60 starts and has accrued more than $1.86 million in prize money.
Zavite will be ridden by jockey Glen Boss, who rode him to victory in the Ranvet Stakes.
Descarado will be looking to go one better after finishing second last start to Maluckyday in the $400,000 Ranvet Stakes.
The High Chaparral gelding has won four of his 18 career starts and will be after his first win of this preparation in the 2011 The BMW.
Also included in the 2011 The BMW final field is last year’s Melbourne Cup runner-up Maluckyday.
Maluckyday has finished fourth in both of his previous race starts, which include the Group 1 Chipping Norton Stakes and the Group 1 Ranvet Stakes.
Also included in the 2011 The BMW final field are Chris Waller’s Hawk Island, Robert Hickmott’s Linton and Pat Carey’s Cedarberg.
