With the clock ticking down towards Golden Slipper Day for 2011 at Rosehill Gardens bookmakers around the country are going into overdrive with a flood of money being reported.
Much of it is for the main event $3.5 million Golden Slipper but with four other Group 1 events throughout the day plenty of punters are multiplying their stakes with bets on the entire Golden Slipper day race program.
The big odds on some of the race cards top horses were never going to stay around forever and they are starting to come in now as Australian bookmaker IASbet.com reports.
In the AAMI Golden Slipper markets have been changing all week but the latest update is that five horses in particular are fielding the most amount of money.
“Smart Missile has been the biggest shortener all week and that continues to be the case, now into $4.20. It looked like he may be challenging for favouritism as early as tonight but a small rally for Sepoy has seen his fixed price odds back into $3.30,” IASbet.com spokesperson said.
Among the others, Foxwedge hasn’t budged an inch since early markets opened and still remains at $8.50.
In the battle of the fillies Elite Falls has retained her favouritism over Satin Shoes despite her horror barrier draw (gate 16) at $10 but they have come for her rival (gate 2), now into $12.
In the other races on Golden Slipper day the market movers are a little bit clear according to the IASbet.com figures.
“In the 2011 Queen Of The Turf Stakes Melito has had plenty of support dropping half a point in from $6.50 to $6.00. However More Joyous still remains the dominant odds on favourite.”
The race three Vinery Stud Stakes has the biggest market mover so far on Golden Slipper day with Pinker Pinker storming into $6.50, that’s after being out as far as $8.00 at one stage earlier in the day.
It’s at the expense though of Brazilian Pulse which is now out to $2.70 with Iasbet.com however we can report that’s not the same across all bookmakers.
In fact in a press release from Luxbet.com they have said one punter has a bet on Brazilian Pulse in the Vinery Stud Stakes to collect more than $200,000.
With so much money flying around it’s bizarre that at this stage The BMW, the second richest race of the day has no clear market movers.
In that race Maluckyday holds tentative favouritism at $3.00 .
