Leading Sydney hoop Nash Rawiller looks set for a massive day on Saturday at Rosehill when he will line up for seven rides, including four Group Ones.
Such is the punters confidence in Nash, of his seven rides, only Theseo will go around in double figure odds in the George Ryder Stakes ($17.00).
However Theseo is a horse that Rawiller has gotten the best out of time and time again, evident by the five Group One Victories the pair have given master trainer Gai Waterhouse.
“He looks as good as ever, and his action has felt great.
“You’d imagine he’ll be a bit vulnerable on Saturday, but you’ve also got to remember he is trained by Gai Waterhouse and I’m sure she’s got him pretty close to the mark. I wouldn’t count him out” said Rawiller.
Of Rawiller’s seven rides for the day, six are for Gai Waterhouse.
“The Gai Waterhouse team has really come good over the last few weeks and I’m really happy going into the carnival,” said Rawiller.
Rawiller will also be aboard Sydney’s best horse in More Joyous in the Group 1 Queen of the Turf Stakes.
“She’s getting right up there with the best horses I’ve ever trained,” said Gai Waterhouse.
Rawiller also has Caulfield Cup winner Descarado in the BMW Stakes, and although the horse was beaten by 100-1 shot Zavite last start, Rawiller remains confident.
“My bloke (Descarado) needed that hit-out and going up to the 2400m this weekend, things will be different,” said a confident Rawiller.
Punters looking for a get out in the last may also do well to look to the Rawiller/Waterhouse combination.
Rawiller will ride Swift Alliance in the last race of the day. Although he will carry 60kg’s in the Sebring Stakes punters have warmed to the five year old and he is now a $5.00 favourite.
“He’s done a treat, he’ll be very competitive,” said Waterhouse.
Waterhouse has also booked Rawiller on Satirical Boy in the first, who is currently $7.00 although this would shorten significantly if Do You Think was scratched from the first race of the day and gains a start in the Golden Slipper.
Rawiller will also partner Fast Clip ($6.00) in race two on the card.
The only ride of the day that Nash will have that is not for Gai Waterhouse will be in the Golden Slipper where he has been engaged to partner Foxwedge for John O’Shea.
“He is one of the nicest horses I’ve ridden,” said Rawiller.
“The penny is just about to drop with him and he has that X-factor. I know he hasn’t beaten much so far but he is only going to get better,” said Rawiller.
