The 2011 George Ryder Stakes is one of the best betting races on Golden Slipper Day according to bookmakers who have taken plenty of cash on the event.
It’s created plenty of value for punters with the Group 1 precursor to the main event Golden Slipper having no clear favourite.
At the moment it’s Aloha retaining favouritism at around $4.80 with Luxbet.com, the filly has a winning streak dating back deep into 2010.
She’ll jump from barrier 3 and looks in tremendous shape but up against the boys she’s not the odds on favourite punters have become used to.
Danleigh leads the betting for the colts and geldings with a mountain of money rolling in.
“Danleigh is the clear market mover, after opening at $10 punters couldn’t get enough of him only now starting to settle down at a $7.50 fixed price,” Luxbet.com reports.
Just behind him comes Dao Dao, a horse that always has a tray of loyal support but is another at bigger than usual odds, currently at $8.00.
Ilovethiscity is only half a point wider with the wide barrier 11 the only thing holding back a late betting charge.
Three year olds used to have a great record in this event but against this field it’ll be a little more tough for Ilovethiscity today.
The star New Zealand import in the field is one which has missed out on the betting plunge with Wall Street struggling to field a bet after having so much pre-race hype.
Luxbet.com says they’ve had to push his price out a full point from $13 to $14 to try and attract any interest in last year’s Cox Plate runner.
“Punters don’t seem to be liking the kiwi’s first up on Aussie soil, King Mufhasa is performing a bit better in the markets after his New Zealand journey but is still out a point to $12.”
The 2011 George Ryder Stakes is Race #6 on the card on Golden Slipper Day at Rosehill Gardens.
