The 2012 Kensington Stakes final field has been released and 11 horses have accepted for the 1000m Listed feature at Flemington this Saturday.

As we had hoped yesterday there will be a three year old taking on the older horses meaning we have a fantastic battle on the cards with punters needing to take weights into consideration.

Grand Duels remains at the top of those weights with the Byron Cozamanis runner to lump 59kg.

That’s one kilo up on First Command and Canali with all but two of the field to take 56kg.

The odd ones out are Star Of Giselle with 54kg and the sole three year old remaining, Decircles.

Danny O’Brien will fancy his chances too with his horse performing solidly against his own ranks, in fact he won his only start during an abbreviated spring.

A good deal of these horses actually have winning form so expect it to be run at a hot pace with plenty  backing their chances.

Weekend Special is another to watch, this Kavanagh runner is on a rather unique streak having placed second and then first consecutively throughout his entire seven race career.

For the superstitious types out there his last start was a second over 955m at Moonee Valley so he’s ready for that next win.
