A number of spring racing carnival stars will line up for the Group 2 Memsie Stakes when it runs this Saturday September 1, 2012, at Caulfield racecourse.
A talented 15 horses field have accepted for the race, which is the first-up assignment for many of the horses.
Included in the 2012 Memsie Stakes field is Happy Trails, who will be having his second start of the carnival.
Happy Trails won his most recent start in the Group 3 Spring Stakes on August 11, 2012, in front of Gossip Girl and reigning Caulfield Cup winner Southern Speed.
The five-year-old gelding has continually proved he is up to the top standard of Australian racing, and is hoping this will be his big chance to win some of the top Melbourne spring features.
Trainer Paul Beshara is confident that Happy Trails can continue his winning streak in the 2012 Memsie Stakes.
“It’s always hard going to Melbourne for the spring,” Beshara said.
“There is never an easy race (in Melbourne), but in saying that my horse had never won first-up before either.
“He’s working good and come through his Spring Stakes win really well.”
Happy Trails has won three of his 24 race starts and has earned more than $338,000 in prize money.
The Good Journey gelding’s best result last spring was a fourth placing in the Group 2 Crystal Mile behind Testa My Patience.
Sincero, Rekindled Interest and Maluckyday are also included in the 2012 Memsie Stakes final field and barrier draw.
