Trainer Gerald Ryan is confident Snitzerland will emerge the winner in the Group 2 Danehill Stakes at Flemington racecourse this Saturday.
Snitzerland won her first-up start in the Group 3 San Domenico Stakes and will be out to consolidate that win with another in the 2012 Danehill Stakes.
The three-year-old filly has shown promise for the spring racing carnival to come, however, Ryan feels the $1.70 favouritism she has attracted for the race is too short.
“There are a handful of colts in the race that are on the up but I am confident she will run really well but $1.70 looks a bit short to me,” Ryan said.
However, he still expects her to be in front when they pass the winning post in tomorrow’s 2012 Danehill Stakes.
“She has come on really well since her last start and she had a soft trial leading into her first race and came on really well after that,” he said.
“They might say she had it all her own way in the San Domenico but she was running time and she has done very well since.”
Snitzerland has won three of his six race starts and has earned clsose to $1 million in prize money during her short horse racing career.
The Snitzel filly came close to winning the $3.5 million Golden Slipper Stakes as a two-year-old, going down to star colt Pierro by a neck in the race.
