Green Moon has been confirmed as a starter for the Group 1 Melbourne Cup next Tuesday November 6, 2012.
The Montjeu entire finished seventh in the Group 1 Cox Plate last start after hitting heavy interference during the race.
The interference with Glass Harmonium left him bruised and sorry after the race, forcing trainer Robert Hickmott to put off confirming that Green Moon would take his place in the $6 million Melbourne Cup.
However, connections have now reported that the five-year-old will in fact run in the 2012 Melbourne Cup and is back at his best form.
Owner Lloyd Williams also revealed that Green Moon would be ridden by jockey Brett Prebble in the race, due to the fact Craig Williams will be aboard Caulfield Cup winner and reigning Melbourne Cup winner Dunaden.
Green Moon will be looking to recreate his effort in the Group 1 Turnbull Stakes two starts back, which he won at Flemington Racecourse over 2,000 metres.
The talented galloper has won six of his 19 race starts and has earned more than $1.15 million in prize money during his horses racing career.
