2013 Melbourne Cup favourite Puissance De Lune will have his first run of his spring campaign when he runs in the 1,400m PB Lawrence Stakes at Caulfield Racecourse on August 17.
Puissance De Lune is currently paying odds of $9 to win the $6.2 million Melbourne Cup at bookmaker.com.au and his return to racing has been highly anticipated.
His most recent race start was in the Group 2 Blamey Stakes at Flemington during the autumn carnival, where he finished first alongside Budriguez in a dead heat over 1,600 metres.
Puissance De Lune will make his way towards the 2013 Melbourne Cup on Tuesday November 5, 2013.
Jockey Glen Boss has already named him this year’s Melbourne Cup winner, and will look to start his spring campaign on a high with a win in the PB Lawrence Stakes despite the short distance.
Puissance De Lune won the Listed Bendigo Cup by eight lengths last October, before winning the Group 3 Queen Elizabeth Stakes over 2,600 metres by five lengths in November.
The Shamardal entire has won seven of his 13 race starts and has earned close to $500,000 in prize money during his horse racing career.
Trained by Darren Weir at Ballarat, Puissance De Lune is expected to also contest the 2013 Cox Plate during the upcoming spring racing carnival.
