Horses sprint to the finish on Oaks Day
Held two days after the world-renowned Melbourne Cup Day, Crown Oaks Day is one of the most glamorous race meetings in Australia and a memorable day full of classic races, elegant fashion and of course, plenty of bubbly!
Widely known as ‘Ladies Day’, the jewel of Crown Oaks Day is the $1 million Group 1 Treasury Casino Crown Oaks (2500m), which is the three-year-old fillies feature of the spring.
Aside from the hot racing happening on the track, off field the main attraction is the esteemed Fashions on the Field competition, with the race wear creations often drawing as much attention as the elegant horses themselves.
The Crown Oaks is the only Group status race on the day, but the card also boasts plenty of thrilling Listed events including the $150,000 Listed Crown Promenade Stakes (1100m) for mares, and the $150,000 Listed MYER Spring Fashion Stakes (1800m) for three-year-olds.
