Stakes Day is the "Family Day" of the carnival providing entertainment and activities for the whole family
The Melbourne Cup Carnival comes to a close on the first Saturday in November when Flemington hosts Emirates Stakes Day.
Whereas Crown Oaks Day is commonly known as the carnival’s ‘Ladies Day’, Emirates Stakes Day is referred to as ‘Family Day’, with a carnival-like atmosphere created by great rides, live entertainment and stalls accompanying the elite racing action.
The marquee race at the meeting is the $1 million Group 1 Emirates Stakes, a quality handicap run over 1600m. As well as the famous Emirates Stakes, four other Group status events highlight the card.
The other elite level feature is the $500,000 Group 1 Patinack Farm Classic (1200m), while the crowds also anticipate the running of the $300,000 Group 2 Matriarch Stakes (2000m), $250,000 Group 3 Queen Elizabeth Stakes (2600m) and the $150,000 Group 3 Maribyrnong Plate (1000m).
